“The world reveals itself to those who travel on foot”
– Werner Herzog –
What does the word ‘hiking’ mean to you? For most of us, it’s simply walking outdoors.
Here at CEA, we like to think of hiking as sauntering, the way John Muir used to describe it. We hike to relax, to slow down, to ground our energies, and honestly, to forget the rat race. We believe that hiking, above all other activities, gives us a chance to look deep into ourselves.
Technically, a hike is a short walk, usually completed within a day, which doesn’t call for too much effort. Because hiking doesn’t require experience or a high level of fitness, it’s perfect for almost everyone, especially families with kids.
Hiking is also one of the best possible ways to explore a travel destination. Because it’s slow-paced, it will allow you to truly immerse yourself in the local environment and culture.

We believe that the most unique quality about Sri Lanka is her diversity.
Don’t take our word for it. You can easily experience it for yourself if you’re willing to put your legs into action.
Ancient tropical rain forests, dry evergreen jungles, arid scrubs, hundreds of rivers and lakes, marshy wetlands, temperate hills, savannahs in the sky, haunting cloud forests and miles of pristine beaches are just a few of her many moods. What’s more, all of this is packed so densely on this small island, that travelling between these completely different terr ains will often take only a few hours.
Seriously, hikers could not ask for a better destination than Sri Lanka. She is a powerful island, ancient and mysterious. She has a lot to teach you, but only if you are willing to walk to her – and there’s no one better than Ceylon Extreme Adventures to guide you to her.
